Top Secret: Manchester City explore move to sign Douglas Luiz

Manchester City are looking to make a flurry of signings in the January transfer window as Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster the squad.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, the Premier League champions are exploring a move to sign their former player Douglas Luiz.

City are desperate to add a new midfielder to the side following Rodri’s injury and have earmarked Luiz as an option.

Luiz joined Man City in 2017 from Vasco da Gama, but he didn’t make any first-team appearances for them. He later moved to Aston Villa in the summer of 2019, where he enjoyed his best spell.

The Brazilian midfielder then joined Juventus in the summer transfer window from Villa on a big-money deal, but he has proved to be a major flop at the Turin club.

Jacobs says that City are trying to sign him on loan for the rest of the season, but Juventus are pushing for a permanent transfer.

He wrote on X: “Manchester City exploring a move to re-sign Douglas Luiz. Juventus want a permanent sale, but Man City looking to proceed on a straight loan.”

Meanwhile, City have confirmed the signing of Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 20-year-old is a highly rated young centre-back who has 18 appearances for his country and has helped Uzbekistan make a strong start in their challenge to qualify for a first World Cup in 2026.

He has quickly risen to become one of Ligue 1’s best young defenders after just 31 appearances at Lens and looks like a cracking signing from Man City.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Brazilian defender Vitor Reis has also signed his contract with Manchester City, and his move from Palmeiras will be announced shortly. He has completed his medicals.

City are also looking to sign Valladolid centre-back Juma Bah, and has already reached verbal agreement to join the Premier League champions.
