Secret Player: Pep Guardiola informs Man City that he wants to sign a player which may cost £250 million in January.
Guardiola has told City which position he wants next after deals for Claudio Echeverri, Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and potentially Andrea Cambiaso.
Echeverri is already a Manchester City player, Marmoush, Khusanov and Reis are all close to being made official and discussions are ongoing over a deal for Cambiaso.
But there could yet be one more player added to Guardiola’s squad this month after the Spaniard made it clear what else he wants.

Pep Guardiola wants a midfielder signed by Man City
Pep Guardiola is ready to take spending close to £250 million for the month by signing a midfielder, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report claims that City are closing in on £190 million worth of new additions this month and their spend could be taken to £250m with a new midfielder.
The Premier League champions lost Rodri to an ACL injury back in September and have been crying out for a replacement.
City have not looked the same since losing the Ballon d’Or winner and Guardiola has struggled to find an alternative to the Spaniard in his squad.
What midfielders could Man City sign this month?
Juventus are open to letting Douglas Luiz leave on loan this month and City could be interested in bringing their former academy player back to Manchester.
Martin Zubimendi is close to joining Arsenal with the Gunners ready to pay his £50.5m release clause in the summer, but a deal is not yet closed and City still have the chance to pounce.
Samuele Ricci is a player who has been impressing in Serie A this season and Ricci has been linked with a move to City.
Joshua Kimmich’s contract expires at the end of the season and he could potentially be available for a good fee this month, meanwhile, Atalanta’s Ederson is another good option.

Erling Haaland shares how Pep Guardiola has actually been behaving in Man City during their recent slump

Tue 14 January 2025 16:15, UK
Having been managed by Pep Guardiola for more than two and a half seasons now, Erling Haaland must have seen all the sides of the Manchester City boss.
Despite Erling Haaland winning a treble and back-to-back Premier League titles, it has not been all smooth sailing for him at City.
For much of Manchester City’s treble-winning season, there were several question marks over whether they had declined as a team following the Norwegian international’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund.
Similarly, Arsenal and Liverpool were leading in the title race for much of last season before City swooped in and won the title. As the Sky Blues have struggled to recapture their greatness this term, even Thierry Henry questioned Pep Guardiola’s decisions to let go of key players like Cole Palmer and Julian Alvarez.
Manchester City sit in sixth place in the table and before winning two consecutives matches against Leicester City and West Ham United, they were winless in seven out of their eight league games.

Pep Guardiola was deemed helpless this season due to the ageing squad and the long list of injuries plaguing his side.

Erling Haaland says Pep Guardiola is “hungrier than ever” now
Manchester City fans even booed their team after drawing 1-1 to Everton — which exemplifies the state of the crisis they found themselves in.
On Tuesday, Pep Guardiola and his City side will be tested to the brink against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Ahead of the contest, Haaland revealed that he is as motivated as ever to help Manchester City return to their brilliant best.
The 24-year-old said via Manchester City’s official website: “It has been weird (to lose so many games),but it has been giving me motivation and the hunger in my belly to keep going, to get better and to perform.”
“You can speak about how we have been unlucky with injuries and we have, but you can’t look for excuses. The good thing is that we have so many games and we can go straight to the next game to try to turn things around and that is what we are doing.”
Haaland went on to add that Guardiola, who Jamie Carragher heralded is more driven than ever in training to ensure an upturn in this City side’s performances; something that Haaland admits he enjoys seeing.
“Also, in training, we have a hungry manager who is hungrier than ever and that is something that I love and gives me motivation, seeing how hungry and motivated he is even with everything that he has won and done for football for so many years.”
Kevin De Bruyne hailed Haaland as he still has more than 20 goals this season and being motivated by Pep Guardiola could well be a factor behind him scoring three in his last two outings.
Man City’s transfer activity was promised to Pep Guardiola
Manchester City promised Pep Guardiola four new signings this month and it looks like they will deliver upon that guarantee.
The report stated that a midfielder was City’s priority and while they are yet to sign one, it is impossible to deny their ambition in the winter window.
TBR Football confirmed Vitor Reis will join Manchester City this January despite Palmeiras’ initial stance about keeping him until after the FIFA Club World Cup this summer.
Omar Marmoush is set to join Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt as well.
Manchester City have agreed a deal for Abdukodir Khusanov as well.
Manchester City’s three signings will be sealed shortly as well — according to TBR Football.
Seeing how much Guardiola looks like he will be backed this January, the fire within him to succeed would have be inextinguishable.
Pep Guardiola has raised the bar during his spell at Manchester City and his sights will be set on driving Haaland and his other players to end the season on a high note.
